In college, I used to take secondhand New Yorkers from the English department's free library and read anything related to poetry, pop culture, or cooking. Then I started dating someone who read articles aloud to me while I cooked, cleaned, or drove around (we're now married:) I gravitate more to specific writers than sections (some can bring a boring topic to life and others manage to suffocate even the most interesting stories) but I'll always have a sweet spot for Anthony Lane's movie reviews. No matter if the jokes don't land—I'm either laughing with him or at him.
